Take Back The Night
We Produce over 80 Rallies annually!
Take Back the Night is an international rally and march that is organized in local communities with the purpose of unifying the community in an awareness of violence. The event is usually a collaboration of community, campus and other interested persons who are ready to take a stand against violence and make the night safe for everyone. Take Back the Night rallies and marches began in England as a protest against the fear that women encountered walking the streets at night. The first Take Back the Night rally in the United States occurred in San Francisco in 1978.
Riot Grrrl Ink. wants to help you Take Back the Night! Have you ever thought that your campus or community would benefit from a Take Back the Night Rally? It's a great opportunity to stand together, bare witness, take to the streets and share experience, strength and hope. Write to us to tell us about your ideas. We would love to assist you with sponsorship and coordination of the event.
Emily Dickenson said, “The brain is wider than the sky.” RGI wants you to take flight with this notion when you start to conceive an image of what you hope the rally will be. We want you to think outside the box. You can branch out into all forms of violence: elder abuse, hate crimes, trans violence, anti-union violence or animal abuse. Your rally could be a perfect opportunity for the local animal shelter to have an information table –even a chance for an adoption board.
RGI would like to attend and document the event as part of a mixed media instillation documenting the evolution of radical community activism and the individuals of the community that propel the movement forward.
